Hey people of the web! ![]()
I don't know if many people have utilised this service yet, but I am having a great time with it. It all started when I was laying in bed the other night and suddenly felt curious about whether there was ever a colour fax machine. Colour fax machine being one that copies and faxes your message to the recipient in colour, not the ability to have the machine in different colours...I can't remember where it came from, but my head works in mysterious ways!
Anyway...so I thought I had heard that one of the two main 118 companies (118118 or 118247) were now replying to any question you had for just 35p. So an excellent time to trial this rumour. I texted both of them 'Has anyone ever made a colour fax machine?' and, to my surprise and wonder, after 5 minutes I got the following reply from 118118 'Herbert E Ives of AT&T transmitted and reconstructed the first colour facsimile, using colour separations in 1924. Thanks for texting the 118 Team!'.
I couldn't believe it!! The rumours were true, and the text back was very precise and made me feel a whole lot better. Not that I really care about faxing, or fax machines, but I just needed to know. 118247 never responded by the way.
Has anyone else out there been texting them anything interesting?
If you text a question mark '?' to 118118 you get a free fact, which is quite a nice idea. You also get a free joke if you text 'joke' to them - and some are even quite alright - e.g. 'A policeman stopped me the other night and says: "Would you please blow into this bag, Sir." I said: "What for, Officer?" He says: "My chips are too hot."' hahaa
Not bad if you get free texts, as the joke and '?' responses are free!!
I have since texted 118118 a few silly questions and they have replied every time. If they take 'a while' i.e. longer than 10/15 mins, they don't charge you for the reply either. Which is rather good of them.
Anyway, I just wanted to share that with everyone.
Hope everyone is well and happiness reins supreme.

This is a bit feeble as a puff for their services, but each to their own.

I suppose the point of having a blog site is that if there is something I am interested in knowing more about, I can ask my many friends on BCUK. And its FREE!
