It's a way off yet, and still in the deciding stages really, but I am comtemplating an American Road Trip.
Possibly 4 - 6 weeks long, I would like to fly over from London and hire a car with a friend and explore.

Now...I have never done this before and know nobody else who has either. So where do I start?!

I know I would like to visit Maine, Boston, Lake Michigan, Washington DC and Chicago. I would also love to see Houston, Dallas, New Orleans; as well as San Fran, LA, Las Vegas.
So where do I start planning? What is the best way to do all of this? When is the best time of year to visit these places?
I don't want to be driving the whole time, as I'd like to stop and see things too, but I am aware these 'three' areas are 1000s of miles apart! So would you hire a car at each location but fly between them?

Anybody with any ideas or experience or advise, please let me know your thoughts.
Maybe 6 weeks isn't long enough and I should cut my route down.

Let me know what you think!

Thanks

Peace out.

I don't know if many people have utilised this service yet, but I am having a great time with it. It all started when I was laying in bed the other night and suddenly felt curious about whether there was ever a colour fax machine. Colour fax machine being one that copies and faxes your message to the recipient in colour, not the ability to have the machine in different colours...I can't remember where it came from, but my head works in mysterious ways!

Anyway...so I thought I had heard that one of the two main 118 companies (118118 or 118247) were now replying to any question you had for just 35p. So an excellent time to trial this rumour. I texted both of them 'Has anyone ever made a colour fax machine?' and, to my surprise and wonder, after 5 minutes I got the following reply from 118118 'Herbert E Ives of AT&T transmitted and reconstructed the first colour facsimile, using colour separations in 1924. Thanks for texting the 118 Team!'.
I couldn't believe it!! The rumours were true, and the text back was very precise and made me feel a whole lot better. Not that I really care about faxing, or fax machines, but I just needed to know. 118247 never responded by the way.

Has anyone else out there been texting them anything interesting?

If you text a question mark '?' to 118118 you get a free fact, which is quite a nice idea. You also get a free joke if you text 'joke' to them - and some are even quite alright - e.g. 'A policeman stopped me the other night and says: "Would you please blow into this bag, Sir." I said: "What for, Officer?" He says: "My chips are too hot."' hahaa
Not bad if you get free texts, as the joke and '?' responses are free!!

I have since texted 118118 a few silly questions and they have replied every time. If they take 'a while' i.e. longer than 10/15 mins, they don't charge you for the reply either. Which is rather good of them.

Anyway, I just wanted to share that with everyone.

Hope everyone is well and happiness reins supreme.

I don't even know who I am talking to, I just really wanted to reignite my blog!
Ed - are you still out there, and do you still love cheese?!

Well I am in the middle of studying for a Certificate in Digital Marketing with the Institute of Direct Marketing, so the main thing I have got to say is my how I am stressed out and busy!
It is proving very interesting and I have learnt loads in the months since I began in April.
We are currently doing our 2nd assignment which is an online marketing plan and conversion strategy suggestion report for Churchill Travel Insurance. Wow, doesn't that sound fun!

If anyone ever read my old blogs - from years ago - you'd know I was majorly into cheese. To be honest I haven't had as much cheese since then as I'd have liked. Tonight though we are plannning stuffed peppers with onions, mushrooms, rice and FETA CHEESE!! Or - as Somerfield would like to call it - SALAD CHEESE!
How funny is that?!!

Anyway, I might go away and ho hum about what to write next. I sure have a lot to say most of the time but I need to get into the swing of this again, talking to nobody in particular still feels quite strange!

Love to everyone, and happiness to all.
